  • Begin watching Rebel Without a Cause - take notes on character names (and actors’/actresses’ names if you can) and how the “Teenager” is depicted in the 50′s

  • Collect research topic web sources listing – due Wednesday in GoogleDos folder (I sent permissions to you all on Monday)

  • Watergate: Begin watching All the President’s Men – Write down the names and positions/offices held of the characters we meet and think (for a future writing task) about the way Woodward and Bernstein handle the situation and the information they experience.

  • Catcher in the Rye: experience the youth/rebellious time of the “Teen-ager” in the fifties as they struggle to find their places in life.  Short Test today –

Thursday-

  • Type email address for your GoogleDocs Account into computer (if you didn’t yesterday)
  • Add: The Things They Carried – read chapter one as a class
  • Follow-up on motifs, diction & tone in The Catcher in the Rye -  Gaining a better understanding of the iconic 1950′s teenager – group activity
  • Continuing with the Age of Anxiety –> Begin with Fahrenheit 451
  • Journal/Quick Write –> A: What is censorship?  Who practices it?  When have you experienced it?  Is it a problem?  B:  Is propaganda in practice today? Why do you say “yes” or “no?”
  • Reading Chapter 1 of Fahrenheit 451 and looking for images and symbols using color and light.  Keep track of them….
  • Hwk: Read “Speaking of Courage” in textbook p966-973
  • Bring textbooks on Monday
  • Begin researching your ideal RESEARCH Paper topic.  It must have two sides so that you may do an argumentative essay on it. What to do:  Name the topic, begin finding Web sites that may be useful.  List the name of the website(title); the author (if identified) and the URL (copy from your browser address bar) –> we need at least 15 UNIQUE website and you may not use Wikipedia for this.  This will be due (in a GoogleDocs Folder) on Tuesday, March 27 by 3:00 pm. Feel free to ask questions on Monday.
